Movie Magic: The Lumina Sideboard from YOMEI and LEICA

As more movie connoisseurs stray away from the traditional television with the rise of streaming services and mobile entertainment, our environments naturally reflect this change, too. Enter the Lumina Sideboard from German furniture brand YOMEI and Leica Camera AG, crafted specifically for the Leica Cine 1. This Bauhaus-inspired solution offers brilliant color and sound, without the permanent fixture of a black screen staring back, a void usually occupying the focal point of the room when not in use. With the Lumina Sideboard, each piece of the puzzle fits together neatly, minimizing pain points of the TV experience, all while gifting this container for culture a sleek aesthetic.

Modern living room with large windows overlooking a river and cityscape; minimal furniture includes a sofa, table, and media console.

Durable aluminum housing offers a protective and sleek shell, keeping the RGB-laser technology, Leica Image Optimization, and up to 3,000 ANSI Lumens safe and sound. These unique features ensure crisp images and extremely natural color reproduction with detailed color gradations – even in bright daylight. Sound is kept sharp through crystal clear Dolby Atmos surround sound, and the nuanced picture quality of Dolby Vision. The surface of the sideboard is finished with premium leather or microfiber leather, fashioned using a signature folding method. The meticulously crafted flap that conceals the screen takes it’s inspiration from the YOMEI Magic Desk, which uses similar methods to either reveal or hide specific components.

The Lumina Sideboard is a powerful addition to any office. The top opens up to reveal a slim screen, with the Leica Cine 1 at the center, ready to begin. Sleek and compact, its small footprint belies its usefulness in business – give presentations, demonstrate workflow, and share videos with ease. Since the light from the projector is cast onto a screen, not into our eyes, blue light strain is reduced, keeping our vision fresh for the next task. Along with consuming less energy than a traditional television of the same size, the RGB-laser system guarantees a lifespan of 25,000 hours, more than enough to get some serious work done. Once the meeting is adjourned, simply lower the screen and power the system off.

Available in low and high versions, the Lumina Sideboard fits snugly into any living or working situation. Leica’s commitment to The low version, shown below, takes the role of a mini credenza rather than a console. Delicate legs extend from a slim, unobtrusive body, showcasing its signature projector in a place of honor – yet without fanfare, quietly suggesting, “Is it movie night?”
