SO/ Paris Hotel Blends Fashion and Design With New Transformation

While design is inherently woven into hotels through architecture and furniture, infusing fashion into a property’s essence poses a far greater challenge – one that SO/ Paris gracefully celebrates throughout its most recent transformation. This fashion-forward sensibility extends to the hotel’s boutique, partnering with the likes of legendary LVMH-owned department store, La Samaritaine, for year-round activations in the lobby.

Throughout the years, the hotel has had continued involvement in Paris Fashion Week, further reinforcing their commitment to blending art, fashion, and luxury in a way that resonates with the city’s creative spirit. In this same spirit, SO/ Paris complements the lifestyle of discerning travelers, including those flying with La Compagnie, a business class-only airline that recently celebrated 10 years of delivering a design and fashion forward travel experience.

Spearheaded by British architect David Chipperfield in collaboration with CALQ Architecture for Emerige, the renovation introduced a “bridge” design with a modern cloister and a garden by landscape architect Michel Desvigne. Here, in this reimagined urban oasis, the spirit of Paris finds its new home. As the crown jewel of the Ennismore group’s hotel portfolio, SO/ Paris commands an unrivaled vantage point along the Seine, offering more than mere accommodation.

The hotel offers 162 rooms and suites, a restaurant and club called Bonnie, a spa, fitness center, and panoramic views of the city. With an interior designed by the renowned design agency RDAI, acknowledged for their collaborations with Hermès and its high-end projects worldwide, the hotel’s design is inspired by the city’s geography and history. Concentric circles and flowing patterns echo the Seine, creating a visual connection to the city’s architectural heritage.

Denis Montel, CEO of RDAI expands by saying: “We drew our inspiration from the archives of Paris, the geography of the Île Louviers and the roots of the city to design this universal and timeless symbol, this drop of water that ripples out into infinite circles. At the SO/ Paris hotel, concentric circles, ricochets, vibrations and good vibes emanate through all the decor. Delicately and with the smallest details, Parisian history makes its way into the space, dressing the marble floor with a traditional peacock’s tail paving. A marbled vein runs through the furniture. The walls of amber mirrors, revisit the geometry of Haussmannian facades with modern elegance and are covered with lunar topography.”

Custom-designed furniture, including Fritz Hansen armchairs, complements the interiors, while expansive windows offer views of iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame. Each room is equipped with modern amenities, including Nespresso machines and high-end bath products from Maison Codage. In keeping with its eco-conscious approach, the hotel avoids single-use plastics.
